Next-Generation Technology In Jet Skis
(Continued)

Please scroll down to read about PWCs and their advances utilizing the latest in technological advances.  Despite numerous fallacies, jet skis have been proven to be significantly quieter and less of a pollutant when compared to other vessels.

PWC Information

*Decibel level tested on water at full throttle at a distance of 100 feet from a stationary landmark.

Sea·Doo, as well as numerous other manufacturers, have been successful in designing extremely quiet 2-stroke jet skis.  In this graphic, the Sea·Doo RX DI 2-stroke jet ski is compared to dissimilar devices for sound resonating, or decibel levels.  The jet ski is only 1.37 decibels louder than a vacuum, and is significantly quieter than city traffic. This all is attributed to Sea·Doo's patented D-Sea-Bel™ System.  Sound reduction systems translate into a more enjoyable environment for all boaters.

Additional points to be drawn utilizing this representation should include the facts that jet skis, when running at peak RPMs, are significantly quieter than a motorcycle, chainsaw, and to a firework.  These machines (with the exception of the firework) are generally operated by all who own property either on or by the lake.  Coincidentally, enmities of PWCs are those citizens who utilize these machines, most of which produce a noise noticeably louder than a single jet ski.  To conclude, if jet skis were to be banned, motorcycles and chainsaws should be outlawed simply due to the fact that noise is a main point of argument among those who are anti-PWC.

Lower Emission Ratings For PWCs

In 1996, major manufacturers of PWCs agreed with the EPA to reduce the total output of engine emissions in both 2 and 4-stroke engines.  By 2006, an estimated 75% reduction of marine 2-stroke emissions will be extirpated.  Indeed, manufacturers took their time in reducing the emissions, but by 1999, the 2-stroke engines already reduced output by a major percentage while meeting the EPA's current emission standards for PWCs.

While current 2-stroke engines have minimal engine-emissions (lower than that of an outboard or inboard antique vessel), newer technology has made the 4-stroke engine comparable in emissions to that of a modern gas-economic road vehicle. Thus, 4-stroke marine jet ski engines are significantly cleaner, producing much less oil and gas output into beautiful Lake George.

In conclusion, newer PWC models are resulting in extremely low emission ratings.  These low emissions, including a line of quieter engines are comparable to luxury power boats on the lake as well as gas-economic road vehicles.  Arguments against jet skis, including poor fuel emissions, fuel economy, or noise are always based purely on ficton, rather than fact.  Independent studies have shown that jet skis are extremely quiet and fuel efficient from 1998 to present models.

Local police need to justly enforce the laws that are currently in effect to minimize the already diminutive side-effects resulting from all personal watercraft (PWC) models.  Additionally, banning personal watercraft vehicles will only drive people elsewhere to where it is legal to ride, forcing local businesses to go out of business.  There is absolutely no reason to ban personal watercraft from any waterway.  We need your help to stop this ridiculous notion of becoming a reality at Lake George, New York today!
